
China’s financial hub, Shanghai has reported three deaths for the first time since the city went into lockdown in late March. Over 20,000 asymptomatic and 2,400 symptomatic cases were reported on Sunday.
The City Health Commission announced that the casualties were not vaccinated and were between 89 and 91 years of age. According to officials, only 38% of civilians above 60 are vaccinated.
The announcement by the health commission marks the first time the Chinese government has officially announced COVID-linked casualties since March 2020.
