March for \'Life\' - 2010|Jenn Farr|CC BY 2.0

Colombia has now become one of the only Latin American countries to decriminalize abortions. Colombia’s Constitutional Court, on Monday, legalized that women can undergo abortion procedures within 24 weeks of pregnancy. This marks a great victory for feminists who have been lobbying for close to two decades to legitimize abortion. Prior to this, abortions were allowed only when the life of the mother was deemed to be at risk, if the woman conceived through rape or incest, or if the child had fetal malformations.
