Dear Dallasites, are you running low on your medicines? Or craving a tub of vanilla ice cream? Wing has got you covered!

Alphabet’s drone delivery business, Wing, is set to commence its service in Dallas’ suburban towns of Frisco and Little Elm from today.

Customers will be able to use the drone delivery service from partner stores—Walgreens, Easyvet, Blue Bell Creameries, and Texas Health.

How does the delivery work?
People within the drone range can order their essentials from the partnered stores through the Wing app. The drone service would not charge any delivery fee.

Wing and its competitors—a challenge in the air
Flytrex, an Israeli startup, announced last week that it is starting its delivery service in Dallas, Texas.

Amazon, too, has been in the business of drones since 2013. However, its drone delivery system is still in the testing phase.

Wing: The road so far
Wing is a rising star in the business of drone delivery. It recently completed its 200,000th delivery and is operational in three countries: the US, Finland, and Australia.

Alphabet’s subsidiary has completed over 50,000 deliveries in Logan, a suburb in Brisbane, Australia—marking the company’s biggest success to date.

The road ahead
One of the major hurdles that drone delivery services face is the FAA’s stringent airspace regulations.

Every drone delivery project must be approved by the FAA as passenger-aircraft-level safe.
