Two lawsuits were filed against Dua Lipa’s biggest hit Levitating, taking the music industry by shock.
Ever since its debut in 2020, the English singer’s Levitating is smashing records, recently becoming the first song by a female artist to spend its 70th week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
What are these lawsuits about?
The first lawsuit was filed by Artikal Sound System claiming that Dua Lipa had used parts of their song Live Your Life (2017) for the Billboard hit Levitating.
The recent one, filed by songwriters L Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer stated that the London-based singer had copied portions of their songs Wiggle and Giggle All Night (1979) and Don Diablo (1980) respectively.
Has Dua Lipa responded to the lawsuits?
There is no official announcement from Dua Lipa. It is speculated that she would likely settle outside the court—a practice that has become common after the Blurred Lines case.
