The European Union has made it clear that it will purchase and transfer arms to Ukraine, while simultaneously tightening sanctions on Russia. This includes the closure of its airspace to Russian flights and restrictions on the broadcast of state-owned Russian media. European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in an announcement on Sunday dubbed the endeavor a “watershed moment.” The bans and tightened sanctions come as worldwide support for Ukraine grows in reaction to the country's continuous attacks in the aftermath of Russia's unprovoked incursion into Ukraine on Thursday.
