Florida is set to become the first state in the country to go against the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) guidance on vaccines for children.

Moving away from the guidelines set by the CDC, Florida’s top health officials said on Monday the state would recommend against the COVID-19 vaccine for healthy children.

In a press briefing, Dr. Joseph Lapado—the state’s surgeon general—pointed out studies that showed the vaccine could have side effects among healthy children.

As of now, around 22 million children have received both the shots.
