Gilbert Gottfried, actor, stand-up comedian, and voice-over artist behind the voice of Iago, the parrot—in the Disney animated film Aladdin—died at the age of 67 due to a long-suffering illness.

Gottfried was also a former member of NBC’s Saturday Night Live and was known for his nervy comedy, especially his comedies related to the September 11 attacks and the 2011 Japan Tsunami.

“Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend, and father to his two young children, although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert's honor,” Gottfried’s family conveyed through a statement.
