Ten people were injured as a stampede broke out in the early hours of Sunday at the Barclays Center after gunshot rumors circulated.
Fans were leaving the stadium after a boxing match between Rolando Romero and Gervonta Davis when a loud noise outside led to panic. People started running from what they thought was a gunman.
Mass shootings and increasing cases of gun violence in recent weeks caused the scare.
According to the New York police, “there was a sound disturbance but no shooting and no gun. People heard loud noises and thought it was gunfire.”
