Nearly 17 Historically Black Colleges and Universities received a series of bomb threats, forcing them to cancel classes on Tuesday, the first day of Black History Month. This is the second such threat this week and third threat in the past month. Howard University in Washington DC, Kentucky State University, Xavier University of Louisiana, and Fort Valley State University in Georgia, and more are among the HBCUs that reported such threats. Most schools were cleared as no bombs were found on campuses.
Bennie Thompson, House Homeland Security chair, stated that the FBI briefed him on a plan to apprehend people responsible for the violent threats.
Meanwhile, the FBI is cooperating with law enforcement partners to find any potential threats. The agency urged the public to report if they find anything suspicious.
