According to reports, the House approved a $1.5 trillion omnibus budget to fund the federal government on Wednesday.
The new budget measures would include $13.6 billion in aid to Ukraine and Eastern European countries and were passed in a 361-69 vote.
Concerns were raised, however, when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided to forego $15.6 billion in pandemic funding, calling the proposal “heartbreaking.”
Republicans asked that the COVID-19 relief funds be offset by making cuts elsewhere. However, Democrat leaders responded by agreeing to pay half of the cost by using money left over from previous pandemic relief funds.
