Justice Stephen Breyer, the most experienced of the US Supreme Court’s nine justices, participated in his final scheduled oral argument before retiring from his 28-year-long career.

The court session concluded with an emotional tribute to Justice Breyer from Chief Justice John Roberts.

Justice Breyer, appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1994, authored important rulings like healthcare access, upholding abortion rights, and supporting the LGBTQ rights.

Breyer will be succeeded by the Biden Administration’s newly-appointed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson—the first Black woman to serve the nation's highest court.
