Vice-President Kamala Harris tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday. According to her press secretary, Kirsten Allen, Harris hasn’t been in close contact with President Joe Biden or First Lady Jill Biden.

Harris, who was on a week-long trip to California, has taken Pfizer’s Paxlovid and will continue to work from her residence.

Trouble in Washington
Fully vaccinated and double boosted Harris is the latest addition to the list of Washington political class catching the highly transmissible Omicron variant this month.

The recent COVID-19 spike among the White House officials was linked to the annual Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, DC.

A similar event—the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner—is scheduled this weekend that may see close to 2,500 attendees, including President Biden.
