Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed by the Senate to serve on the Supreme Court after a remarkable 53-47 vote—with Republican Senators Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Mitt Romney joining the favor.

Jackson is the third Black justice and the first Black female to have a position in the Supreme Court. Ketanji will be formally sworn in for the position in June when Associate Justice Stephen Breyer concludes his service.

President Biden hosted Jackson at the White House as they witnessed the historic vote on television.
