Mariupol is on the verge of getting captured as Russia closes in on the last of Ukrainian forces. With a step closer to capturing the city, Mariupol would be the Kremlin’s biggest victory since the start of its invasion.

Ukraine stays determined as the commander of the last Ukrainian forces of Mariupol said they will not lay down their weapons and surrender. The troops’ final stronghold, the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, holds strong against the Russian forces despite being outnumbered.

Helping hands from the West
With the ongoing heavy battle at Mariupol, the US, Canada, France, Britain, and Germany pledged more support through arms and additional sanctions.

White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said, "We will continue to provide them more ammunition, as we will provide them more military assistance." Psaki has also mentioned that new sanctions were being prepared to be imposed on Russia.

No ceasefire over Orthodox Easter
UN Secretary-General António Guterres requested a ceasefire from this Thursday through the Orthodox Easter Sunday—to open humanitarian corridors for civilians, which Russia deliberately refused.

At least 500 people are unable to receive proper treatment for their wounds due to a lack of humanitarian corridors.
