Congress members are asking President Joe Biden to invoke the Defense Production Act (DPA) to ensure the supply of weapons to the US army.

During a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting, Senator Richard Blumenthal warned about the diminishing count of Javelin anti-tank missiles in the country.

“The United States military has probably sent about one-third of its Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine—one-third of our supply given to them. Replenishing US stocks or those weapons would require 32 months,” Blumenthal said.

Next Tuesday, President Joe Biden plans to visit Alabama’s Lockheed Martin facility that makes Javelins.

The Javelin missile is also in demand for Taiwan, for whom the US is producing the anti-tank missile.
