The Russian Government banned Meta’s Instagram app over its decision to allow posts calling for violence against the Russian Government and its army.
Russia’s telecommunications regulator, Roskomnadzor, announced the Instagram block would commence from Monday, which is today.
The news comes merely a week after Russia’s ban of Facebook and Twitter.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri pointed out this social media ban would cut off 80 million Russian people’s contact with the outside world.
Influencers and small business entrepreneurs are distraught over the ban, as it pushes them to a state of unemployment.
