The Netflix password-sharing practice is coming to an end, folks. Time to pay for your subscription and get off your boyfriend’s, ex's, dad’s or cousins’ subscription.

The streaming service is testing methods to charge an additional fee from subscribers who share their passwords with users outside their household.

This test will initially roll out in three countries—Chile, Peru, and Costa Rica.

What does this test mean to subscribers?
Netflix would ask primary account holders to pay for up to two freeloaders who do not belong to the same household. This means the primary account can have up to two sub-accounts.

Following the success of the test run in these countries, Netflix is likely to expand this practice to other countries for its users.

But why is Netflix doing this?
The quick answer is more money.

Work-from-office, or work in general, translates to lesser binge-watching. Seeing the shift, Netflix is looking into ways to bring in more money.

We must also remember that the streaming service has pumped in a lot of money to expand its ‘Netflix Original’ collection and other shows and movies. To that end, the streamer also hiked its subscription price a few weeks ago.

So, enjoy the last of free streaming!
