The Chernobyl nuclear power facility has been taken over by Russian forces, according to Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukraine's presidential office. Mykhailo said it was inconceivable to assert that the Chernobyl nuclear power station was secure following the Russian-led attack. "This is one of the most serious threats in Europe today," Podolyak added. According to a Russian security source, some Russian forces massed in the Chernobyl "exclusion zone" before entering Ukraine early Thursday. Following Moscow's offensive, the Russian troops gained control of the power plant on the same day, while Ukrainian troops fought them on three sides. This is the most significant attack on a European state since World War II.
