The City of New York is all set to test out ‘shove-preventing’ barriers at the Manhattan and Queens subway stations. The proposed ‘doors’ will create a barrier between the platform and the track to prevent people from falling onto the tracks. In a statement released by MTA Chairman and CEO Janno Leiber on Wednesday, the barriers will be implemented at the Third Avenue station on the L, the Sutphin Boulevard-JFK station stop on the E, and the Times Square station on the 7 Line.

The announcement comes as a response to the tragic murder of 40-year-old Michelle Go, a commuter who was pushed onto the tracks at Times Square by a stranger.
