President Joe Biden's sister, along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, GOP Sen. Susan Collins, and Democratic Rep. Peter DeFazio, are the latest Washington figures who tested positive for COVID-19.

The announcements came in yesterday. According to Pelosi’s spokesperson Drew Hammill, Pelosi is asymptomatic and had received her complete vaccination. She even had her booster before testing positive for the virus.

The House Speaker will be in quarantine.
Pelosi has attended two crowded events in the White House on Tuesday and Wednesday. The White House confirmed that her interactions with President Joe Biden did not meet the terms of being in close contact, per CDC’s definition.

Other DC figures who tested positive
First Lady Jill Biden’s press secretary Michael LaRosa tested positive for COVID-19.

Is COVID-19 closer to Biden?
The fear of Biden getting affected is at its peak as many of the President’s close contacts tested positive in the past few days. However, he took his regular COVID-19 test on Wednesday, which came back negative.

Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan
Pelosi’s plans to visit Taiwan on Sunday, which was openly opposed by China, had to be postponed after she tested positive.

The Chinese Government informed earlier that the country would take "resolute and forceful measures" if the US Speaker visits Taiwan.
