Pfizer and BioNTech applied to the Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday to authorize COVID-19 booster dose for children between ages five and 11 years.

According to a study, a booster dose can increase immunity against the original coronavirus and against the Omicron variant.

To date, 28% of children between five and 11 have received both vaccinations.
