The third week of the Russia-Ukraine conflict has claimed the lives of more than dozens of people after a barrage of missiles struck a military base in Western Ukraine on Sunday.
Reports suggest 34 people died in the attack, with 134 others grievously injured. The attack comes on the heels of the Kremlin’s threat to attack Western weapons shipments sent to aid Ukraine in their war efforts.
The missile strike, which took place near the city of Lviv, is close to the border of NATO member Poland.
Fears of drawing NATO into the conflict come closer to realization, although the military defense alliance has made it clear that they will not get involved in the war.
On CBS's ‘Face the Nation’, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan warned that any attack on NATO territory would provoke a comprehensive reaction from the alliance.
Latest reports reveal that Ukraine has agreed to additional talks with Russian representatives. In a video statement, Ukrainian negotiator Mykhailo Podolyak said that “Russia is already beginning to talk constructively,” adding that positive results could arise “in a matter of days.”
