Russia is flexing its weapon skills to the maximum.
The country on Wednesday successfully tested the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), with Russian President Vladimir Putin boasting the projectile will make Moscow’s enemies “think twice”.
Adding to Putin’s comment, the head of the Russian space agency called the testing a “present to NATO”.
The Sarmat can carry ten or more warheads on each at a time.
Russia is two months into the Ukraine war and three weeks away from its annual Victory Day parade in which the Kremlin showcases its latest weapons.
Jack Watling of a London think-tank says there is an element of posturing and symbolism involved in Wednesday’s ICBM testing in northern Russia.
