Seven schools in Washington were evacuated on Wednesday, after receiving bomb threats through an anonymous phone call. The threats were made the day after VP Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff was escorted out while he was on a visit to Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C.

The Nation’s Second Gentleman was present for an event to commemorate Black History Month, but was escorted out soon after a bomb threat made through a phone call. Although, officials confirmed that the threat did not appear to target Emhoff.

Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that Dunbar High School, Theodore Roosevelt High School, Ron Brown High School, KIPP DC College Preparatory, IDEA Public Charter School and Seed Public Charter School received bomb threats and were evacuated by Wednesday afternoon.

A thorough search of each premises was made once the students were evacuated.

“Americans have a right to be safe at work, in houses of worship and at school. We must stand up against any threat of violence in our communities," Harris said in her statement.

It has only been a week since the bomb threats were made to at least a dozen Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) across the United States, leaving students scared and disappointed.
