Oil industry giant Shell announced on Monday that it will cease all its activities in Russia, including a large liquefied natural gas project. The decision makes Shell the latest Western energy giant to abandon the oil-laden country in the aftermath of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. Shell announced in a statement that it will exit its 27.5% investment in the Sakhalin 2 LNG project, which is partly owned and run by Russian gas firm Gazprom. The announcement comes only a day after their competitor BP announced its intentions to sell its interest in Russian oil behemoth Rosneft.
