On Wednesday, a bipartisan group of eight State Attorney Generals announced that they are investigating the social networking service TikTok on its negative impact on young users' physical and mental health. The investigation led by several states, including California and Massachusetts, will look into the methods and techniques used by TikTok to boost engagement among young users. The announcement comes only a day after President Biden urged lawmakers to hold social media firms accountable for the “experiment they’re conducting on our children for profit.”
