Gerald Brevard III, a 30-year old with a history of mental illness was arrested Tuesday around 3:00 AM for allegedly shooting five people experiencing homelessness—killing two and wounding three in DC and NYC.

After receiving an anonymous tip, DC police caught the suspect in the 2700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast, DC.

Brevard is charged with first-degree murder while armed, assault with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to kill for three shootings in D.C. Additional charges are anticipated in connection to the NYC attacks, according to MPD Chief Robert Contee.

As per Court records, Gerald Brevard III was discharged from a Washington DC psychiatric hospital in 2019.
