Frank R. James—suspect in the Brooklyn subway attack that injured 23 people—will be held in custody without bail.
US Magistrate Judge Roanne Mann passed the order but did not rule out future bail applications.
Prosecutors have charged James with a federal terrorism offense that applies to attacks on mass transit systems. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
It is believed the suspect may have called the NYPD himself.
