The Bored Ape Yacht Club fell for a simple trick on Monday, and it cost them NTF worth millions of dollars.
A hacker managed to get into the NFT collection’s Instagram handle and posted a phishing link—claiming to allot free land in the upcoming Metaverse.
Big day for the hacker
The security hacker walked away with a heavy wallet from the Yuga Labs company.
Four Bored Ape Yacht Club, six Mutant Ape Yacht Club and three Bored Ape Kennel Club are among the 134 NFTs that were stolen from the BAYC—assets worth roughly around $3 million.
The hack was announced through a tweet by BAYC, stating, “There is no mint going on today. It looks like BAYC Instagram was hacked.”
