Ray Charles and The Judds, along with fellow musicians Eddie Bayers and Peter Drake, joined the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday.

The ceremony took place just a day after Naomi Judd, 76, of The Judds, passed away unexpectedly. Her daughters Wynonna and Ashley Judd accepted the medal and induction plank amid tears.

“I’m sorry that she couldn’t hang on until today,” Ashley Judd said.

Ray Charles is famous for his gospel, R&B, and soul music. But his contribution to country music, especially the 1962 ‘Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music’, got him the induction.

Bayers and Drake became the first drummer and steel guitar player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Drake had worked on 300 platinum records. He passed away in 1988.
