Former US President Donald Trump said he endorses celebrity surgeon Dr Mehmet Oz, a Republican running for Pennsylvania’s Senate election.
Trump said, "Dr. Oz is smart, tough, and will never let you down, therefore he has my complete and total endorsement."
The Senate race in Pennsylvania is growing competitive as several candidates compete to replace retiring Republican Senator Pat Toomey.
The candidates
With quite a large number of candidates competing for the Senate seat, eyes are focused on Republican candidates Dr Oz and David McCormick, a former hedge fund CEO.
Notable Democrats in the race are Pennsylvania's progressive lieutenant governor, John Fetterman, and Congressman Conor Lamb, a moderate representing the northwestern suburbs of Pittsburgh.
This race holds a key position in the Senate as it will determine the power of Democrats in President Joe Biden’s government.
