Two lead prosecutors working on the Manhattan DA’s criminal investigation into the former President Donald Trump and his business practices have resigned unexpectedly even as the case appeared to be at a pivotal stage in the proceedings. Prosecutors Mark Pomerantz and Carey Dunne submitted their letters of resignation to the DA’s office on Wednesday. News of the resignation came soon after Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg had revealed that he had serious doubts about going ahead with the case against former President Trump.

The New York Times first reported the prosecutors’ resignations.
