Devin Nunes, former Republican congressman and staunch Trump supporter who now runs Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), said on Sunday that the Truth Social app would make its Apple App Store debut this week. Truth Social is Trump's response to being permanently banned from Twitter in January 2021 after the business determined that the former president’s tweets at that time lead to the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, breaking the company's policy against the glorification of violence. Trump's actions had effectively cut him off from his almost 90 million followers. Glimpses of what Truth Social would look like were released recently, sparking a debate that it appeared similar to Twitter’s interface, thanks to its usage of red ticks for verified profiles.
