After 12 days, the Twitter board has agreed to accept Tesla CEO’s offer to take the micro-blogging platform private for $44 billion.

The change is yet to come
It is unclear what changes Twitter will undergo under the world's richest person's ownership or who will lead the company.

Elon Musk—an active Twitter user with over 83 million followers—has criticized the platform’s lack of freedom of speech and its algorithm.

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” said Musk’s first tweet after taking over the micro-blogging giant.

The billionaire would likely relax the content moderation restrictions, introduce the ‘Edit’ button, allow long-form tweets and have an open-source algorithm, making Twitter a more efficient platform.

The next big question
Following Musk’s criticism of the Twitter board, it is unlikely that Parag Agarwal would continue as CEO. It is yet uncertain who would take on the reins of Twitter.
