Twitter announced its “crisis misinformation policy” on Thursday to reduce the flow of false information at times of international crisis.
Why?
This global policy comes after the massive circulation of false, misleading information related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
What does the policy say?
The “crisis misinformation policy” would place false tweets behind a warning label, and users will be restricted from liking, retweeting or sharing the same.
The tweet will be verified through “multiple credible, publicly available sources" at times of global crisis.
Although, as per the policy, Twitter will not remove the tweet but hide it from public view.
