The Ukrainian government has approached the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the global Internet governing body, with an appeal to remove Russian domains from the World Wide Web. Ukraine's proposal to ICANN seeks to revoke Russian domains while shutting down the nation's principal Domain Name System (DNS) servers, essentially blocking access to Russian websites and potentially taking the country offline. ICANN has responded stating that they confirm having received the Ukraine government’s letter and that the matter is currently under review.
