Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed on Friday to remain in Kyiv as Russian forces continued their advance towards the nation’s capital. Following reports of heavy fighting on multiple fronts, Zelensky, in a video message, said that "(The) enemy has marked me down as the number one target. They want to destroy Ukraine politically by destroying the Head of State. I will stay in the capital. My family is also in Ukraine." Zelensky also confirmed that 137 people had been killed and 316 were wounded after day one of the invasion ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russia’s offensive is being touted as the biggest attack on a European country since World War II. Warnings of severe repercussions pile up against Russia from various countries, insisting that they forego the invasion and retreat.
