United Airlines, the world’s third-largest airline, asked employees who declined COVID-19 vaccinations on medical and religious grounds to return to work from March 28.
In a memo issued on Thursday, Kirk Limacher, the company’s Vice President of Human Relations, issued vaccine-related exemptions to 2,220 workers.
Limacher added that the company let employees know of the decision as the US government extended mask mandates on public transportation till April 18.
CNBC reported over 97% (around 67,000 workers) of the company employees received their COVID-19 vaccine. The airlines stated that they would monitor the COVID situation and alter protocols accordingly.
