The Oscars 2022 returned to the Dolby Theater full of shocks and surprises for the fans and stars. Here are some of the unforgettable moments from Hollywood’s prestigious award ceremony.

Will Smith punches Chris Rock on stage
Chris Rock had some bad luck yesterday as the actor was hit by Will Smith for joking about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair. Will Smith later accepted the award for Best Actor for his role in ‘King Richard’. While apologizing for his reaction he stated, “Love will make you do crazy things.”

Jane Campion triumphs at the Oscars
Jane Campion won the Academy for Best Director for her masterpiece ‘The Power of the Dog’—making her the third female director to ever win an Academy Award. Campion is preceded by Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker, 2010) and Chloé Zhao (Nomadland, 2021)  

Ariana DeBose’s Best Supporting Actress win
‘West Side Story’ brought the talented Ariana DeBose to light, with her role Anita bagging the Academy for Best Supporting Actress. Surprisingly, Ariana DeBose’s win comes 60 years after Rita Moreno won an Oscar for the same role.

The missed-out eight awards
ABC’s decision to not air the eight categories including Best Score and Best Production Design was truly a disappointment for viewers.

Zack Snyder hailed for Oscars Fan-Favorite Movie and Oscars Cheer Moment 
Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’ won the Oscars Fan-Favorite movie vote on Twitter. Also, the moment where Barry Allen uses ‘Speed Force in Zack Snyder’s Justice League claimed the Oscars Cheer Moment, surpassing Marvel’s iconic Avengers Assemble and the three Spider-man line-up moments. These moments barely received any applause from the crowd though.
