The bill, called the Sunshine Protection Act, was unanimously approved by the Senate on Tuesday, which will mark an end to the practice followed for over a century.

Why should it be approved?

This permanent daylight saving system can reduce depression, crime levels and gives an opportunity for people to explore in an extra hour of sunlight. It really isn’t very interesting to wander in the dark.

Why should it not be approved?

Gas can face a spike in prices as the number of people going out will increase. Also, people can find it difficult to do their early morning activities and jump straight to work.

The bill will leap into action from November 2023 if approved, considering the industries and airlines that pre-schedule their activities in advance. It is yet to be approved by the House of Representatives before reaching the President’s desk.
