President Joe Biden’s federal budget plan is expected to include a request for $813.3 billion for National Security—the plan will be sent to Congress today (as reported by Bloomberg).
An increase in the amount for the new proposed budget
This new proposal is $31 billion more than the approved spending for the present year and $43 billion more than the White House’s budget for fiscal 2023.
A breakdown of the budget proposed
The National Security budget includes funding for the Defense Department, the nuclear weapons of the Energy Department and the FBI’s national security.
President Biden intends to use the federal budget for National Security for various resources including $773 billion for the Pentagon, $130.1 billion for research and development, with funding for research in AI and hypersonic weapons.
There is also a request of $145.9 billion for procurement, $548 million in improvements of the nuclear submarine industrial base.
Any Hindrances?
The proposed funding plan could be accepted as both the Republicans and Democrats of the Senate are willing to increase the spending for defense functions.
