CVS is discontinuing sales of select cough and cold medicines containing phenylephrine across 9,000+ stores nationwide after health regulatory advisors found that the main ingredient doesn’t work.

Last month, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found phenylephrine in pill and syrup form for oral ingestion does not clear blocked sinuses during a cold.

The decongestant is available in roughly 250 products that brought in $1.8 billion in sales last year, per the NYT.

The ingredient is found in Benadryl, Sudafed, Tylenol, Mucinex and NyQuil.
