The Trump administration fired more than a dozen Justice Department (DOJ) lawyers who worked on the two criminal cases against the president.
The mass firings follow a major shakeup at the DOJ. Over 20 senior officials have been reassigned, including top ethics official Bradley Weinsheimer and former chief of the public corruption section Corey Amundson, who resigned shortly after.
Several officials and legal experts have criticized President Trump for retaliating against career civil servants who were doing their jobs and, in most scenarios, were assigned his investigations.
Trump had vowed to fire special counsel Jack Smith, who oversaw the cases. But Smith resigned before the presidential inauguration.
The Senate is set to vote on Trump’s attorney general nominee, Pam Bondi, on Wednesday.
