Donald Trump has picked Linda McMahon, former WWE CEO and past head of the Small Business Administration (SBA), as his nominee for education secretary, entrusting her with leading a department he once proposed abolishing.
Known for her close ties to Trump, McMahon, 76, previously led the SBA during Trump’s first term and later chaired the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action Institute. She served on Connecticut’s Board of Education from 2009 to 2010 and has been a trustee for Sacred Heart University.
The President-elect also chose Howard Lutnick to be commerce secretary in his new administration.
Lutnick, the head of brokerage and investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald and a cryptocurrency enthusiast, is a longtime Trump supporter.
