Facing a government shutdown deadline, the House and Senate passed a bipartisan plan that included funds for federal operations and disaster and farm aid but left out the debt-ceiling increase demanded by President-elect Donald Trump.

Lawmakers in the House voted 366 to 34 on Friday evening to approve the proposal. Shortly after the midnight deadline, the Democrat-controlled Senate also approved the deal. The measure now goes to President Joe Biden’s desk.
