Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle admitted the agency ‘failed’ to prevent the assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life

The US Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheatle, was grilled by lawmakers on both sides of Congress at a House Oversight Committee hearing yesterday after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, PA.

Both Republicans and Democrats were united in their anger over the agency’s security failures that allowed the gunman to get close enough to Trump and called for her resignation.

Cheatle, while admitting the Secret Service “failed” and took full responsibility, declined to answer several questions regarding the Trump rally shooting, citing an ongoing internal investigation that would take 60 days to finish. She also refused to step down from her position despite calls for her resignation from both political parties.
