Secret Service head Kimberly Cheatle is scheduled to testify at a House Oversight Committee hearing today

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is scheduled to testify at a House Oversight Committee hearing today over the agency’s failure to stop an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

Cheatle also faces mounting pressure to resign after reports revealed that top officials at the agency denied multiple requests for extra security for Donald Trump’s team for two years. However, no such request was made for Butler, PA.

So far, President Joe Biden has ordered an independent investigation to ensure accountability. Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Secret Service, has appointed a bipartisan panel to review the agency’s actions.
