The suspect in the second attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on his golf course in Florida was charged yesterday with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

According to court documents, the 58-year-old suspect, Rayn Wesly Routh, spent nearly 12 hours lying in wait before he was spotted.

Routh has over 100 criminal counts against him in North Carolina, court records reveal.

Secret Service under pressure
The incident and a similar assassination attempt on Trump’s life in July have increased public and federal scrutiny of the Secret Service.

Acting Director Ronald Rowe has called for a “paradigm shift” in their protective measures, emphasizing the need for proactive readiness rather than a reactive approach.
