President-elect Donald Trump has asked the Supreme Court to intervene and halt his sentencing, scheduled for tomorrow, in the New York hush-money case.

If SCOTUS intervenes, it could delay the hearing or block sentencing entirely, marking a legal win for Trump.

In May 2024, Trump was convicted on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records tied to money paid by his lawyer, Michael Cohen, to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election.

Judge Juan Merchan, who postponed sentencing in July after a Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity, later ruled that Trump’s protection would not apply until the inauguration. He also stated the president-elect faces no jail time.

The Supreme Court has ordered prosecutors to respond by Thursday morning, less than 24 hours before the sentencing.
