President-elect Donald Trump appointed Tom Homan to oversee the country’s borders as the administration’s “border czar.” He will be in charge of “Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin,” Trump wrote in a social media post yesterday.

Homan is the ex-director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Immigration is a central pillar of Trump’s campaign, with promises of mass deportations.

Homan, a vocal advocate for strict immigration policies, told Fox News he plans to target illegal immigration through worksite operations, citing connections to trafficking issues.

He also denounced sanctuary cities, expressing hope for local police cooperation while referencing Trump’s previous use of the Department of Justice to enforce immigration laws.

Trump also plans to nominate Florida Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State.

Rubio, a former critic turned Trump ally, is known to have a traditional approach, particularly regarding foreign policy. Though a China, Iran and Cuba hawk, Rubio has softened on supporting Ukraine, recently advocating for an end to the conflict with Russia.

Trump has picked Rep. Mike Waltz, a former Green Beret and congressman, as National Security Adviser.
